The Australian ship SS Katoomba which carried Emir Abdelkrim El-Khattabi and his family from their exile on the island of La Réunion in the Indian Ocean to France, and from which Eltaher and members of the Arab Maghreb Bureau in Cairo rescued Abdelkrim with the cooperation of King Farouk of Egypt in the port of Port Said in May 1947. Had it not been for the telegram sent by Abdo Hussein Al-Adhal from Aden to Mohamed Ali Eltaher, chances are that Abdelkrim could have never been rescued.
