Invitation to the commemoration of the fall of the city of Algiers to the French on July 5, 1830 organized by the Algerian Bureau in the Middle East - Cairo Branch on July 5, 1954. The invitation card provides some background about Algeria's struggle for independence from French colonialism. The ceremony was to be officiated by Lt. Colonel Gamal Abdel-Nasser, then Prime Minister of Egypt, but neither he nor several other key v.i.p's, such as the Secretary General of the Arab League Abdel-Khaleq Hassouna attended the event. The reason of their abstention is not known.
