Syrian President Shukri Bey Al-Quwwatli autographed this portrait for Eltaher’s son Hassan and gave it to him when he accompanied his father to the Presidential palace in Damascus – 1956. Friends of Mohamed Ali Eltaher later confided to him jokingly that a thirteen years old kid would not be impressed by an autographed picture, even by the President of the Republic, and that the President should have offered him fifty syrian liras to put in his piggy-bank instead!
