Memorabilia from a bygone era: Tea Island, which still exists in the Cairo Zoo, was one of the choice entertainment landmarks of Cairo. Lunches and tea parties were constantly organized in the garden set up on the island, which was very much like an English country-club.
Eltaher also organized tea parties and receptions there for a variety of events related to his political and journalistic activities.
In this clipping from "Allataef Al-Mousawwara" magazine are two photographs and a descriptive of one such reception organised by Eltaher on January 9, 1935 in honour of a delegation of Palestinian personalities visiting Cairo comprised of: Said Touqan - Ali Hasna - Fahmy Al-Hasani - Ishaq Darwish - Dr. Moustafa Boushnaq and Abdellatif Al-Husseini.
Being a lover of classical music and opera, Eltaher occasionally invited Sami Al-Shawwa, the then famous Palestinian violin player from Gaza to perform for the guests.
