Aref Abdel-Razeq added the following comment about the occasion of the photograph:
Photograph taken following the famous Battle of Salfit during which a military aircraft was downed and about 120 enemy soldiers were shot . The enemy met with fierce resistance from our fighters during the battle which took place on 19/8/1938. He eventually reverted to aircraft raids only without soldiers as happened during the battle around the village of Deir Ghassaneh on 16 September 1938.
